Pack Air Inc. has designed a custom double-lane Washdown Stainless Steel conveyor to automate closing a bakery container lid.

Packaged pastries would travel down the conveyor side by side on a single plastic modular belt to reach the infeed of the lid closing device. The slightly elevated, high-friction rubber belts help naturally lift the bakery lid to close. At the same time, the attached horizontal bar ensured the lid stayed closed before moving through the pinching wheels.

Top and bottom parallel pinching wheels leave a gap large enough so the lid can snap tightly in place. Guide rails were used to ensure stable and efficient movement traveling through the pinching wheels and outfeed. The high friction rubber belt would help push the product over the dead plate between the lid closing device and the dual-lane twin chain turners on the outfeed.

Integrated guide rails align the bakery products with the dual-lane twin-chain turners. Finally, these twin chain turners would then each rotate the product 180 degrees with one chain traveling faster than the other to have the container in the proper orientation for the next process.
