Hi, my name is Peter Fox. I'm the CEO of Sonic Packaging. We're here at PACK EXPO showing off our latest machine, which is a 434 Superflex. This machine was designed specifically to offer our customers a great deal of capability to run different package formats. We can run both line flat and alternating layers of products for bulk pack, and this particular package is a stand up pouch, or we can run them standing up in multiple rows for retail ready display. This is a common requirement for people that are running stand up pouches, so this could be used in industries such as confection, the cheese industry, pet food, a variety of different things that are using that type of package.
Of course we could also run pillow packs or any other type of flexible packaging as well. The machine brings the product in, and it's fed into our transfer conveyor here where we then deposit them into a flighted conveyor. The flighted conveyor then takes one product per pocket, and we pick that product, and then we place it onto an orientation carousel. The orientation carousel then hands off the product to the next picking device which then picks into the shuttle system. The shuttle system collects all of the products that are going into the case and then transfers it over to the pushing section back over here. Once it's in the pushing section, the entire pack pattern gets pushed onto a flat blank and into a forming cassette. That's where we wrap the case around that forming cassette.
And then we index it forward into a closing section. At the closing section, we're closing all sides of the case, and we're keeping it contained so that we get a perfectly square case every single time. Some variations of this machine will include having a cover applicator at at the closing section so we can run very nice display trays with a cover on top, and the cover is removed at retail for placement onto the shelf. So this machine has a lot of variation, a lot of unique configurations. It's based on our 434 platform which is the latest generation of Sonic wraparound case packers and train cover machines.
