Clysar, LLC, announces that Clysar EV-HPG shrink film has been formally recognized by the Association of Plastic Recyclers (APR) for meeting the highest criteria for recyclability according to the APR Design Guide for Plastics Recyclability. Design for recyclability leads to less waste, more efficient use of limited natural resources and increased supply of high-quality post-consumer recycled content.
This recognition provides brand packagers with a trustworthy verification of material recyclability. APR evaluated EV-HPG shrink film using stringent industry-accepted criteria, encompassing a wide range of impacts affecting plastics recycling. A comprehensive technical review concluded that Clysar recyclability data was correctly obtained and was completely presented, meeting or exceeding the guidance criteria of the Preferred Design Recognition pathway.
“Clysar EV-HPG shrink film is everything our stakeholders have asked for in a sustainable, recyclable shrink film,” said Clysar Sustainability Manager Christine Grant. “This recognition allows brands to make informed decisions about Clysar shrink film’s true recyclability based on trustworthy third-party data. Our customers can be confident that EV-HPG shrink film supports their recyclable packaging goals, requirements and claims; contributes to high-quality post-consumer content and addresses impacts of Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) policy.”
“APR congratulates Clysar for taking action to improve the recyclability of their shrink packaging and taking the steps to receive APR Design Recognition,” said Steve Alexander, APR President & CEO.”
Clysar EV-HPG multi-purpose shrink film is a solution for brands and retailers seeking a sustainable alternative to conventional non-recyclable shrink packaging. Optimized for the recovery stream, the film is prequalified for Store Drop-off by How2Recycle. The film can lower the impact of traditional shrink packaging application without compromising cost, packaging efficiency or shelf appeal. A drop-in solution, the film is ideal for packaging a range of products and runs on all types of shrink equipment. Produced in the USA, it reduces the use of virgin plastic by incorporating up to 30% Clysar ReClaim, a certified pre-consumer recycled (PCR) content resin.
The Association of Plastic Recyclers (APR) is an international non-profit and the only North American organization focused exclusively on improving recycling for plastics. APR’s tools & resources help companies design packaging that can be recycled, support innovations that overcome existing recycling challenges, and encourage stable and reliable markets for post-consumer recycled content.
