ALPS Inspection is a global expert manufacturer of non-destructive, in-line leak inspection equipment for empty plastic containers of all sizes, shapes, and materials. Today, ALPS Inspection proudly announces that Product Manager Andrew Steiner has joined the Board of Directors for the Society of Plastics Engineers (SPE) Blow Molding Division. In addition to Steiner’s appointment, ALPS Inspection has also contributed a scholarship to support the organization’s educational initiatives, reinforcing its commitment to the future of the plastics industry.

With over 14 years at ALPS Inspection, Steiner brings a wealth of expertise in leak detection solutions for blow-molded packaging. He is among the first board members from an inspection equipment manufacturer, marking a significant step in broadening the industry's engagement with quality control and process optimization.

“ALPS Inspection has long been involved with the Blow Molding Division of SPE, and I’m honored to take on a leadership role within the organization,” said Steiner. “The SPE Blow Molding Division plays a critical role in advancing technology, fostering education, and bringing together key players across the industry. As a board member, I look forward to contributing our expertise to shape future conferences, student programs, and industry collaborations.”

SPE is recognized for its dedication to education and industry engagement. Some key initiatives are providing scholarships to students pursuing careers in the field of plastics in blow molding, packaging, and recycling. With ALPS Inspection’s contribution, the SPE Foundation aims to expand its scholarship offerings, helping support students entering these fields. The division also hosts industry-leading events, including the Annual Blow Molding Conference (ABC), which serves as a platform for knowledge-sharing and networking among manufacturers, suppliers, and end-users.

Steiner will serve on the Knowledge and Technology subcommittee, focusing on student projects, scholarships, and educational outreach. The board meets three times per year in person, with additional monthly virtual meetings to drive ongoing initiatives.

“Education and workforce development are essential to the long-term success of the blow molding industry,” Steiner added. “By supporting SPE’s scholarship program, ALPS Inspection is investing in the next generation of plastics professionals while giving back to an organization that has played a vital role in the industry’s advancement.”

The Society of Plastics Engineers, founded in 1942, has over 60,000 stakeholders across 84 countries, uniting plastics professionals worldwide through networking, events, training, and knowledge sharing. The organization’s foundation provides scholarships to undergraduate and graduate students pursuing careers in plastics engineering, polymer science, chemical engineering, and related disciplines.
